Karuppu Kavuni Arisi Murukku / கருப்பு கவுனி அரிசி முறுக்கு - Krishna Jayanthi Recipes







Ingredients

Karuppu Kavuni Arisi Powder - 1 cup
Fried gram dal powder             - 1/4 cup
Butter                                       - 1 tsp
Asafoetida                               - a pinch
Cumin seeds                           - 1/4 tsp
Salt                                         - 1/4 tsp


Method

Grind 2 cups of Karuppu kavuni arisi in a rice mill.( no need to roast the rice)
Grind the fried gram dal to a fine powder in a mixie and sieve.
Take a bowl, add 1 cup kavuni arisi maavu , 1/4 cup fried gram dal powder, 1 tsp butter,asafoetida, salt, cumin seeds & mix well.
Add little water at a time to make smooth dough.
Take a small portion , fill the greased murukku press with that dough.
Heat oil in a kadai.
Grease a ladle, squeeze it out in a circle motion & transfer it to the hot oil.
When it is done on one side , flip it.
When the sound stops & oil stops bubbling , take it our from the oil and transfer it into a kitchen towel.
Let it cool & store it in an air tight container..



Vella Seedai with Store Bought Rice flour.- Krishna Jayanthi Recipes



Ingredients

Rice flour                            : 1 cup
Jaggery                                : 3/4 cup
Urad dal flour                      : 1 tsp
Butter                                   : 1 tbsp
Cardamom powder               : 14 tsp
Coconut pieces                      : 2 tbsps
Water                                     : 14 cup

Method for urad dal flour

Dry roast urad dal till golden brown on low flame & cool down completely.
Grind to a flour  seive it and keep aside.

Method


Heat a pan , dry roast rice flour on medium flame .
You should be able to draw a line.
Remove from flame and kee paside.
Heat pan with jaggery , add 1/4 cup water and mix.
Boil until it dissolves.
Strain it and boil again.
Reduce the flame , Add rice flour  urad dal flour, coconut pieces  cardamom powder, butter & mix everything well.
let it cool.
Roll them into small balls.
Heat oil & slowly drop the balls and fry in low flame ( else it will not get cooked inside) till golden brown.
Drain in kitchen towel and let it cool.
Store it in an air tight container.

Ring Murukku / Andhra Murukku






Ingredients


Rice flour                            : 1 cup
Water                                   : 1 cup
Moong dal                           : 1 tbsp
Butter                                   : 3/4 tsp
Red chilli powder                : 1 tsp
Asafoetida                            : a pinch
Salt                                       : to taste
Oil                                        : for deep frying

Method



                                         Wash & soak moong dal in water for 1/2 an hour.
                                                     Drain it and keep aside.



                                          Heat water in a pan and bring it to a boil.



                           Remove from flame , add salt , rice flour,drained moong dal  and mix well.





                       



                                                                Add butter ,mix and 



                                                          Let it cool for some time.





                                                             Add red chilli powder ,



                                                                           asafoetida now,


                                                           and knead it to a soft dough.



                                                         Make small gooseberry size balls , 






                                                       roll the ball into a slightly thick rope,  , 


                                        
                                            bring both ends together to make a ring shape.



                                                                Heat oil for deep frying.
                       Put the rings and deep fry them  on medium flame till it is golden in colour.





                                                                Drain it and let it cool.





Store it in an air tight container.

Sesame seeds balls ( Laddu) / Ellu Urundai / எள்ளு உருண்டை



Ingredients

White sesame seeds        ; 1 cup
Jaggery                           :   3/4 cup 



Method

Dry  roast sesame seeds till they pop up.
Remove from flame and let it cool.
Heat a pan ,lower the flame, add powdered  jaggery and  1/4 cup water .
Strain it and boil again till soft ball consistency.
Now add the roasted sesame seeds to it, mix well and remove from flame.
Grease the hand with ghee / rice flour and  make balls.
Let them cool completely and store it in an air tight container.

Navaneetham - Krishana Jayanthy recipes



A must for Krishna Jayanthy / Sri jayanthy / Janmashtami 

Ingredients

Butter                        : 3 tbsps
Powdered sugar        : 1 1/4 tbsps
Cardamom powder   : a pinch


Method

Mix all the ingredients.
Krishna's favourite Navaneetham is ready.
Offer it to Krishna as neivedhyam.


Cashew nut Murukku / முந்திரி பருப்பு முருக்கு



Ingredients

Rice flour              : 4 cups
Cashewnut            : 1 cup
Ghee                     : 1 1/2 tbsps
Salt
Asafoetida
Oil 



Method

Soak cashewnuts for 1/2 an hour . 


Grind cashew nuts to a smooth paste with little water and transfer it to a wide bowl.


                                                               Add rice flour to it.


                                                                    Add ghee.




                                                                         
                                                                         Salt
                                     
  
                            

                                                                      Asafoetida and 

 

                                                          Mix everything Well.


                                          Sprinkle little water and knead like a firm dough.


                                                      Take a small portion, 




                            Fill the greased Murukku Achu (Murukku Maker ) with that dough, 


                                       Squeeze it out in a circle motion in hot oil.



                                                     Fry,when crisp,remove from oil.



                                              Let it cool and store it in an air tight container.





Sukku Vellam For Krishna Jayanthi



Ingredients

Dry Ginger powder   : 2 tbsps
Grated Jaggery         : 2 tbsps
Ghee / Honey           :  1 tsp



Method

Blend ginger powder and jaggery in a mixer.
Add ghee or honey and mix.
Make small size balls and store it in a ait tight container..

Vella Seedai - Gokulashtami Recipes


Ingredients

Rice Flour      : 1 cup  ( Recipe here )
Jaggery            : 3/4 cup
Urad Dal flour : 1  tsp 
Butter                : 1 tbsp
Grated coconut  : 1 1/2 tbsps 
Sesame seeds  : 1 tsp
Cardamom Powder  : 1/2 tsp
Oil




Method

In a heavy Bottomed pan,add grated jaggery and 1/4 cup water and stir until jaggery dissolves well.
Dry roast rice flour and urad dal flour for 2 minutes.
Dry roast the coconut and keep aside.
Then fry sesame seeds and add it to the coconut.
Now add the coconut mixture to the flour and add cardamom powder,butter and mix everything well.
Add the jaggery water to the flour mixture little by little and make a stiff dough.
Keep this mixture aside for 12 hours. 
Make small balls and deep fry in hot oil till they are golden brown.
